A bill that would change the way Tennessee schools respond to fire alarms is one of several bills in this legislative session designed to make schools safer.
Right now, when the alarm sounds, evacuations begin immediately, but the age of active shooters and soft targets is fueling a demand for change.
It was six years ago this month a disgruntled student pulled a fire alarm to create panic before going on a shooting rampage at a high school in Parkland, Florida.
Seventeen teachers and students were killed, and 17 others wounded.
