The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has issued a Blue Alert for a man wanted in connection to the death of a Blount County deputy.
Kenneth DeHart is wanted with first-degree murder among other serious crimes.
Blount County Sheriff James Berrong addressed the public at a press conference overnight.
TBI reports deputies with the Blount County Sheriff’s Office initiated a traffic stop on an SUV on Sevierville Road in Maryville, and the driver identified as DeHart would not cooperate when asked to get out of the vehicle.
A taser was used with no effect, and Dehart took out a handgun and fired shots at deputies.
