A Florida jury convicted three men of first-degree murder in the shooting death of promising rapper XXXTentacion. The jury deliberated for more than 27 hours before reaching a verdict on Monday, March 20.
X, whose real name is Jahseh Onfroy, was shot to death in June 2018 as he was leaving a motorcycle shop near Ft. Lauderdale, FL.
X was robbed of $50,000 cash and a Louis Vuitton bag. The rapper was only 20 at the time of his death.
The murder was captured on surveillance cameras outside the motorcycle shop.
Dedrick Devonshay Williams, Michael Boatwright, Trayvon Newsome and Robert Allen were convicted of first-degree murder in XXXTentacion’s death. They could face life in prison when sentenced.
Suspect Robert Allen — who pleaded guilty to murder last year — testified in court last month that rapper Drake was not involved in X’s murder. Allen confirmed that he never spoke to or attempted to contact Drake.
After X died in 2018, Drake recorded lyrics dissing X in his songs. A judge tossed out a defense attorney’s request to depose Drake during the trial.
