Alanis Lucia Andrade Paz and her family came to the United States from Venezuela in search of a better life. But the family did not expect to be living through what they call a nightmare after the sister says students put their hands on Alanis several times throughout the last school year.
In August, Alanis started at Antioch Middle School.
“She started living in a world that she has never been before,” says Engerlinth Castillo, Alanis’s sister.
